អុកចត្រង្គ Ouk Chatrang

Ouk Chatrang is a native game of Cambodia.  It is still very popular and can probably be seen played on the streets.

Ouk Chatrang is essentially the same game as Makruk, however there are a few special opening moves that make it slightly different.

- The king can make a knight move on its first move.

- The queen can jump two steps forward on its first move.

besides that I think they are the same game.

I have read someplace that in Thailand these special move rules were removed at some point.

I have found an article by a Cambodian man living in the U.S. that describes a variant game called Rek, which is not really a game of the Chaturanga family, but still may be of some interest.  I will add the article at some point.
