天竺将棋 Tenjiku Shogi

Tenjiku Shogi is a large Shogi variant from about 500 years ago.  It plays on a 16x16 board with  many many pieces.

- This game has a Fire Demon (火鬼)... enough said.

- Besides that is has a number of very interesting moving pieces and is said to play faster than most shogi variants simply because of the brutality of the pieces.

- It developed from Chu-Shogi, one of the greats, so has all of those pieces, but adds a number of new ones.

- There is a very good free book written on this game in English.  I will add it to the strip below later.

Almost the images/photos on the site were created by Chris Bogert.

(with the exception of a few patterns and pieces in images and gallery section.)
